Today I did awesome!

When you have so much in mind it can often be overwhelming and exhilarating at the same time. I have so much projects from street art, street photography, to painting that I want to put out and share to the world bit idk where to begin πŸ˜…. I'm slowly updating my website with my previous and current projects so stay patient 😁 I created my own personal website because I feel that I have materials worth sharing. Stick around and bare with me at the moment... It'll be worth a while.

Dollar and a Dream Painting by Sue Tsai

Dollar and a Dream . . .

A photo posted by SUE TSAI β„’ (@suetsai) on

All you need is a "dollar and a dream" a slogan from NYS lottery which can also be heard in rap lyrics from Biggie even up to today's modern music and that I like very much. As a visual artist I have always thought of illustrating this annotation ever since I heard of it but still haven't come up with a slick concept 'til today, when one of my favorite artist @suetsai posted a photo of her painting this morning.

Really fucking dope! I love that kid character riding the paper plane made out of $2 bill and it's the second time I've seen him/her in Sue Tsai's panting below and seem like is growing every time lol.

Very mysterious with the aviator shades/goggles and if you look closer, like any great visual artist Sue leaves us a space to think and question ourselves whether that character is a boy or not. I love this piece! Great job Sue!

Inspired by the struggle of my little cousin name Elly. He came to New York (when he was 17y/o) 3 years ago and was telling me about his life in Dingle a third Class municipality province in Ilo-Ilo City, Philippines where he worked as a farmer growing and harvesting rice crops after his class while attending high school to support himself and his family. Sometimes when money is short, he would only eat rice topped with soy sauce for lunch and dinner.

Elly works at a dry cleaning shop in Manhattan these days and once in a while sends money to support his family in the Philippines and doesn't deal with crops and farm anymore like he used to (LOL!). Although he still likes to eat white rice topped with soy sauce sometimes, there is now a side of chicken to go along with his main course and not to mention a freshly squeezed orange juice haha. β €

This kid has come a long way for sure. Just like any teenager Elly likes to skate, watch anime films in YouTube, and likes to draw cartoon characters in his spare time. He plans to take graphic design in college this year.

I took this photograph with my iPhone (back in 2013) one evening while he was sleeping face down in our couch. I thought of printing it and incorporating it with my painting because it was so raw and can only imagine what he went through as a kid.

This ones for you Elly. Thanks for your story and for the inspiration. πŸ––πŸ½πŸ‘½ #aream #ArtRulesEvrythingAroundMe #weirdkings #ProtectYourDreamFoundation
